The Shaver Lake/Huntington Lake area is truly a hidden treasure in central California’s Sierra Nevada mountains. Located about an hour from Fresno, California at the 5,500’-7,000’ elevations, the area offers abundant outdoor recreational activities on its many lakes and streams. From fishing to water skiing to sailing, this is definitely a lake lover’s paradise. Huntington Lake is a nationally known sailing lake where regattas are held nearly every weekend each summer. There are many other activities to enjoy such as mountain biking, riding ATVs on many miles of established trails, hiking, rock climbing, hunting, bird watching. In the winter, we are definitely in snow country! The biggest attraction is Sierra Summit Mountain Resort for skiing and snowboarding. The miles of trails used by ATVs in the summer become groomed snow trails in the winter for snowmobilers and cross-country skiers. There are restaurants, gift shops, an art gallery, grocery stores, gas stations, a pizza parlor and sporting goods stores to enjoy when not on the lake or at the ski area. If you don’t own the equipment needed for the activity you have an interest in, you may rent whatever you need from a sporting goods store, a  marina on one of the lakes or Sierra Summit’s rental dept right on the slopes. The weather is absolutely perfect. Our average summer high is in the low 80’s with light breezes. In the winter, we get snow, but our roads are plowed and well-maintained day and night so driving access to just about any activity or property is a safe and reasonable , though you should always be prepared with the proper equipment for current weather conditions. Accommodations are plentiful; from a rustic bed & breakfast to a motel room to fully equipped vacation homes of every size and quality. Real estate opportunities are plentiful as well.
